Twitter offers a great space to connect and learn from other web designers and developers. From advice on scaling your web design business to must-have Chrome extensions, it hosts an endless amount of information. That being said, with over 310 million active users on Twitter it can be overwhelming to find the right people to follow for the best advice. That’s why we did the work for you!

After combing through hundreds of accounts, we came up with this list of 20 users to follow on Twitter. Whether they are just starting to grow in the Twitter world or have tens of thousands of followers, these tweeple are sharing some pretty cool stuff on web design and development.

    • Web Designers to Follow on Twitter: Jeffrey Zeldman

      Jeffrey Zeldman @zeldman (353K Followers)  

As a pioneer in the web design and development space, Jeffery Zeldman is a must on the list of influential tweeple. He is an accomplished writer, public speaker, and the co-founder of An Event Apart conference. He also founded a web and interaction design studio in New York, studio.zeldman.


Chris Coyier is a designer at CodePen, podcaster at ShopTalk, writes for CSS-Tricks, and has a must-follow twitter profile. To add to his list of accomplishments, Coyier recently published a new book, Practical SVG.   

 


Addy Osmani does it all! He’s currently an engineer at Google working on the Chrome and Web Platform. He’s published a few books, hosts a YouTube show, and is the creator of TodoMVC, Yeoman, Material Design Lite, and Web Starter Kit.

 


As a leader in design and user experience, Patrick Neeman always has something interesting to share on twitter. In the past seven years, he’s spoken at over 30 conferences and has worked with big name companies, like Orbitz, Disney, eBay, Microsoft, and Realtor.com.

 


A talented typographer, Jessica Hische has worked on many projects from branding to book covers. She is an accomplished public speaker and a leader in the design and type world.  

 


Dan Cederholm is the Co-Founder of @dribbble, and is a designer, author, and speaker at SimpleBits. He always has something interesting to share on Twitter.

 


Work hard. Don't be an asshole. Share what you know,” are Brad Frost’s opening words of wisdom in his pinned tweet. He is an avid tweeter, sharing knowledge on all things web related, specifically, web design. Frost is also a public speaker and builds resources and tools for web designers.   

 


Lea Verou is on 🔥 ! She has quite the portfolio with a background in computer science and experience in front end development and web design. She is currently a Research Assistant at MIT CSAIL, and has spoken at over 60 talks across the world.  

 


A go-to for anyone developing iOS apps. Ray Wenderlich is the founder of Razeware, and the popular iOS development blog, www.raywenderlich.com. His Twitter account gives great insight on topics related to software, gaming, iOS development, and the iPhone.

Jeffrey Zeldman has described Sarah Parmenter as one of the “funniest, nicest, and most impressive designers/entrepreneurs” he knows. And it’s easy to see why when you browse through her Twitter account. She is the founder of web and iOS design practice, You Know Who, and runs two other business, Blushbar and Lovely. To top it off, in 2011 she was voted Designer of the Year at .net Magazine’s annual show.

Daniel Burka’s  Twitter account is flooded with speaking events, resources, and great insight on UX and design. He is the co-founder of Milk Inc, and a Design Partner at Google Ventures.

On a bad day, I just make it suck less.” Living up to her Twitter bio, Karen McGrane has worked for over 15 years on products, improving content strategy, and user experience. She is an accomplished writer and recently published Going Responsive in 2015.


Sara Soueidan was recently named front-end developer of the year in the 2015 net Awards 🎉. Her passion lies in front-end development, focusing on CSS, HTML5, SVG, and JavaScript. She has shared her expertise by creating  multiple resources in both book and podcast form, and speaks at a number of conferences and workshops worldwide.


Designer, writer, speaker, founder, co-founder, musician, Dan Mall does it all! He is well known for his work as a technical editor for A List Apart and publications in .net Magazine. His Twitter account is full of juicy tips and links, check it out!

 


Rachel Andrew is a Jill of all trades! She has worked in everything from operations, to front and back-end development. She is currently the Managing Director and Founder of edgeofmyseat.com, and speaks at a number of conferences throughout the year.

A touch of wit and a wealth of knowledge is how to describe Val Head’s Twitter profile. She is a web and UI animation pro, and the author of Designing Interface Animation and The Pocket Guide to CSS Animations. Oh, and you might have seen her speak at one of 25 conferences in the last few years. As stated on her website, she’s been described as “a force to be reckoned with” and “a one woman show” on web animation.

      Una Kravets @Una (11.9K Followers)  

Avid traveller, speaker, tweeter, and technical writer, Una Kravetz always has something interesting to share. She is a UI Engineer at DigitalOcean, and a co-host of Toolsday. She also started two SASS Meetups, ATX Sass in Austin and Sassy in Washington DC.

Oliver Lindberg always has great insight on web design, development, and UX. He is currently the editor of .net Magazine, the curator of Generate Conference, and a Shopify Ecommerce Design Awards judge.

 


Drew Lepp is an up and coming UX star to watch. She runs her own UX design agency, Drew Lepp Designs and recently founded TimeKat, a time tracking/product management app.
