[MUSIC PLAYING] It's time to create your subscription box. Here we have an example of a subscription box for dog owners. We talk treats, food, and toys. Now let me show you how to get this box online. To setup subscription offerings, you can either choose a Shopify app or Shopify Subscription APIs. However, in this lesson to make it easier for you, we are going to have you set up a subscription app to create subscription options for your products.
But before we introduce the app, let's take a look at the key factors to find a good subscription Shopify app for your store. About app features, you should consider elements such as different subscription types. Can it support both mystery box and build your own box. Cart flexibility. Does it allow subscription and one time purchases at the same time.
Subscribers self-management. Will customers be able to edit their orders, swap product, edit delivery date, et cetera. Analytics tool. Does it have a good analytics tool. Cancellation incentives. Does it have any cancellation prevention to reduce churn rate. And besides these factors, you should also pay attention to the app pricing plans, trial period, support service, and so on.
All right. Based on the factors listed above, in this lesson I'm going to use Boat subscription app by Boat as an example app for this model to create my subscription box. Alternatively, you can find and try out several other apps on Shopify App Store that have similar functionalities and mechanism like Paywhirl and Recharge Recurring. So to use Bold Subscriptions, you can easily search for it in the Shopify App Store and then Add app.
After installing the app, you will see a dashboard like this. Here in the main dashboard, you can observe analytics metrics for the subscriptions, manage customer purchases, and subscriptions. And for Subscription group here, that is where you will customize subscription offering for your products.
And down here, are some general settings and account settings. OK. For my Perthortus pet shop, I will create a subscription box for the dog food product. You click on Subscription groups, then Create subscription group. Now you enter a group name, and select the products. And for the frequency here, you can set up the Order option for every month, week, or day.
You can totally setup advanced options here. Put in the frequency name, and down here, you can offer discounts for those subscriptions. Now click Save changes, and your subscription has been created. Remember to turn the status on to enable the subscription. Also you need to update the theme in the app, so that when you build a store with a new theme, the subscription can be updated as well.
You go to Help and then Theme code update. Then choose the theme that you published. Once you finish setting up the subscription in the app, in your product, there will automatically be a new section called Subscriptions. OK. Let me check the live view to see the subscription offering. Good.
Now customers can choose to buy the product one time, or subscribe to our box to save 20% every month. And when you click on Add To Cart and go to the Check Out page, you can see the recurring total number here. Seems like we have almost finished setting up a basic Shopify Subscription Store. In the next lesson, we are going to give you a detailed tutorial on how to create a landing page using a page builder app for your subscription box.
