Assignment #1: Subscribe to email lists from companies that inspire you.

How are your favorite companies creating and sending their email marketing? Take some time to subscribe to some of your favorite brand’s email newsletters. Pay close attention to what they offer you to subscribe (i.e. a discount, a free product, valuable content etc.)

You can also subscribe to competitors emails if you’re curious about their email marketing.

Resources:

• Really Good Emails aims to be the best showcase of email design and resources on the web. This is a free service where you can check out a curated list of high quality emails.
• MailCharts is a company that provides tracking services for competitors. This is an advanced option you can use if you want thorough tracking of competitors email marketing.

Assignment #2: Abandoned Checkout

In the quiz you learn that between 60-80% of carts are abandoned online. This is a huge challenge for online business owners, yet also a huge opportunity. We recommend you abandon a few checkouts for some of your favorite brands and see if they have their abandoned cart sequence activated. Sometimes you will receive an email right away, other times it may be 12 or 24 hours. The key is to learn which ones you find are effective and how they entice you to buy.
