[MUSIC PLAYING] So you set your goals. Now let's talk about how to achieve them. In this lesson, you'll discover the steps to developing your influence. Number 1, develop a clear and consistent message. Can you put this agenda or this message that you have in two to five words? OK, maybe even it's 10 words. But can you describe what you want to accomplish in two to five words?

Now, maybe building your influences, you're the person that comes in and just says, just do it. Or you come in and say, life is about love or health, family, faith is first. Whatever the case is, I want you to understand what your two to five words are. And then you can start influencing people. And people will also take your message out to other areas and other brands and other people and share your belief.

People love to follow somebody who knows what they are looking for. Number 2, look for points of connection. Remember, the only thing that is more important than the number is the person. People are people at the end of the day. Bank on your relationship capital. I've seen this having happening too many times where people are in a boardroom meeting or just meeting people and somebody saying, well, I did this.

Another person goes, yeah, and I did this. And they try to top my score. 10 points in this game, I score 20. Instead of doing that and making it a, who's better, [? I'd ?] [? say, ?] oh my god, you love that game just as much as I do. What do you love about it? This is what I love about it. People love to connect with other people because they feel like you believe in the same things they do and you add value and you believe that they add value.

Everybody wants to be valued. Number 3, provide value without looking for anything in return. That's what you see with many successful people. They love to give to charities, whether giving actual money or resources or rolling up their sleeves or being a mentor. When you keep giving, the universe gives back to you 10 times over. In the workbook, write down the top three people that you want to connect with.

Now, I don't want you to just put the people that are super unattainable, the people you may see on TV or leading the government [? to ?] want to connect [? to. ?] Connect with a person who is a leader in your community, in your industry, somebody who will not mind helping you. What's the use of connecting with a mentor or somebody at the top of the food chain if you never get to speak to them? Connect with people that you want to be able to add value to and you can communicate with often.
