[MUSIC PLAYING] All right. So I want to talk about three things that you have to stop saying to yourself if you want to succeed. Before you start setting goals, I want to talk about the mindset of setting goals for a minute. There are three things you should never say to yourself if you want to succeed. Number one-- What will they think of me? Remember, this is a personal goal that you want to achieve in life.
Who cares what other people think. Too many people fall victim to what society or what other people think. Now, of course, if this is a goal and your kids may think different of you, then you have to weigh what is more important. Because, of course, I want you to be able to be that person your family values and cherish. So maybe the goal is the wrong goal.
But what will they think about you? Be very careful about that. Make sure it's the important people in your life that you value. That's what you consider. But don't worry about what other people think. Number two-- I don't want to lose this. Now, a lot of people don't take action because they're afraid of losing something. What is it that you have at risk? Is it your reputation?
Is it loved ones? Is it your health? Now, if you're talking about losing something substantial such as your home or your wealth, here's what you need to think about. I want you to take affordable steps. I don't want you to go out and risk everything. Everybody telling you that on social media, and online, in the paper they risk everything, that's not smart to do. So make sure that you can recover from anything that you are going to potentially risk or lose.
But remember, sacrifice is giving up something of lesser value or something of greater value. And number three-- I don't know if I can do this. Well, everybody can do anything they want that they set their mind to it. Look around you. Every single thing around you-- I've told you this-- start off with one person, with one idea, that took one action. You can do this.
But if you do not believe you can do this, then you're already setting yourself up for failure. So never question if you can do it. If I can do it-- listen, I started out as a young man who got left back in school, who grew up with no famous last name and no money. And if I can do it, then you can do it. Join me in the next lesson to learn how to set a goal. [MUSIC PLAYING]
