[MUSIC PLAYING] One way I stay focused on my business goals is with accountability partners. It's also my secret weapon to help keep me on track. Now you may think my accountability partners are people I met in the barbecue game. But they're the exact opposite. So let me tell you a story of my accountability partners and how I encourage you to meet yours. I met them at one of the first shows I ever did. I sat at my tent in between these two women who owned artistic companies. They have nothing to do with barbecue business.

We joke about it now. If we only knew what was going to be happening at first because naturally, I'm an introvert, and they were talking to me non-stop, which is a bit overwhelming to me. They were giving me tips and pointers and talking about products and stuff. And then just a friendship grew from that. I went from being really overwhelmed, learning from them on day one to years later, they're my best business friends. They're the ones who actually convinced me to move to Shopify a couple of weeks after we met at that first show.

And now I'd like to introduce it to them and have them share the value of accountability partners in business. I'm Laura Kasperlik, and I'm the founder and owner of a business called Pretty Clever Words. And in my business, we're passionate about the power of words. And I know when I look back over the past few years with my business, I would not have been as successful without the relationship that I have with two very strong accountability partners.

And the strength and the power that we have is that we show up for each other every day. Whether we're texting, or calling, or getting together in person, we talk about our goals. We talk about our businesses. And then we go forward and help hold each other accountable to those goals. So on any given day when we're showing up for each other, or laughing, or encouraging, or questioning, or cheerleading, we're using the strength and the power of our voices and our words to help each other and to help our collective businesses grow.

And the power in that just cannot be overestimated. Hi. I'm Leah Mancini, and I'm the founder of Leluna Star. Having an accountability partner has helped me stay focused and on task in business, especially when planning and creating for the busy time of year. It means you have someone else to motivate you when the majority of the world is designed to distract you.

Having people in your life to keep you focused not only means your tasks get done, but it also means that you reach your goals faster. Also, being someone else's accountability partner means that you get to feel the joy of seeing them reach their goals as well. Don't feel like your accountability partners have to be in your same industry or people you already know. When networking at events, get to know people.

See where you have similar interests and goals. These are the people who make good partners, even if they're in another industry. It can help provide focus and an outside perspective. Now join me in the final lesson of the course to wrap up and hear my final words of advice.
