For us the process developing design entails a defined breakdown of the steps you need to create your assets. The journey to follow collaborating with designers and how to organize your brand. Let's go ahead and jump in there to get started. All right. Let's talk about developing designing. So this is the development process of getting that done. So when it comes to the assets. These are the must have assets you need for an e-commerce brand.
0:34
So these are all the brand identity items that you'll need. I'm going to break these down in detail a little bit later on and show you examples of what these look like. So you have a better understanding of what to get and then also provide you with some templates that you can access and create on your own. So first things first you need your logo design. Now, in most cases a designer will send you multiple versions of that logo. So first thing you need are the source files you need the PSAT the AI or Adobe illustrator as well as sketch any other source files that you would need to make edits to that logo later on.
1:06
Let's say a year from now you change your name or maybe update your font or maybe you create a variation of the logo you want to have the source file so you're editing from the actual file that the logo was made from. Now you also want to have three different versions. You want a white transparent logo which you can put on you know color products or things that are more of a color. Then you have color transparent and then you have color and color background.
1:29
So I'll just show you some examples of what that looks like. We actually just finished one up for a brand. So I'm going to walk you through that right now and show you the different versions of design logos that you'll need. So this is for an upcoming e-commerce brand. If you go to PSG for example I just want to show you these different versions. So you have a general idea or consensus of what logo you need.
1:52
So we have the original logo here, which is on a PSG do to there's a gradient in the background. And then we have different versions right we have the version without the palm tree with just the name and the insignia here and then we have it with just the almost like polo where it has the palm tree and the circle around it. And then we have two different versions on white. So essentially when you're talking to your designer or if you're designing yourself. Make sure you have these multiple versions.
2:16
So you're ready to go with your content on different platforms. Next thing we'll talk about are the brand guidelines. And this is essentially your brand Bible. This has your overall vision the values tone it has local colors or color palette for your brand as well as typography. So this is everything bundled together and this takes all the assets and information you pulled during the brand discovery and provides them in a PDF document I'll get into this in more detail as we jump into the next module.
2:47
But I wanted to show you an example so our agency five for digital, which is the agency that does web design for clients. This is the brand guidelines of our brand. Right you can see everything is consistent down to the color the fonts everything across the board is consistent on this brand guidelines. You have the introduction you have about get the brand mark typography color palette and it's just a simple and easy way to portray your brand in an effective way.
3:12
So let's say you're working on a billboard or you're collaborating with an agency you're able to give them one of these documents. And they can pull all the information they need for your brand next. Let's talk about social media collateral. So this is mostly the cover images and profile images for the primary social media platform. So Facebook, Twitter Instagram YouTube, whatever is going to be included in your desired package.
3:38
This is to create consistency across the board on all of your online brand asset. So I'll show you an example. All birds has a consistent brand look and feel across all their platforms. So if you look at Facebook here you see that that is consistent image. They have the profile image and they have the cover image. So those are the most. And those are the most popular images you'll use in creating your platform. Instagram is the same thing, right.
4:02
They had the same image here so there's that consistency across the board in regards to brand. If we go to Twitter we also see the same thing the same logo and the same image as Facebook. So across the board it's easy to differentiate the brand. And then lastly we have business cards which should coincide with the brand. So ultimately for your entire brand identity you need for primary assets logo design with all the source files brand guidelines social media collateral and business cards and of course, you can add on other things as well.
4:35
But ultimately this is what you need to get launch and get started with your e-commerce brand. So let's look at that entire process as a whole. Let's say you're either designing yourself or your delegating or hiring that designer from up work or freelancer. This is the process you can follow. So once you conduct a brand discovery we talked about this earlier in the last module. This is to collect information on the brand the goals and ideas for the logo design.
5:01
So this info will be given to the designer with the video brief and general sketches. So you'll just have some ideas and concepts and you'll give that brand discovery to your designer. Or we'll use that to work on it yourself. Now let's talk about the design process. This is where you collaborate with a designer view upward and they take the tools supplied to create logo options that will be approved by you. You can utilize the brand discovery as a brief to get this done.
5:25
Then we talk about design edits. So what feedback is received. Changes are made to reflect what's required and a series of edits are made. So you're able to make recommendations to the designer on Haley's changes. I'd like to update this and so forth. Then once the designer is approved both the design is approved. The designer provides your digital assets so make sure you always request the local source files and versions business card brand guidelines fonts or typography social media assets and all that good stuff.
5:57
So you don't just want a logo you want the entire brand identity. Then you add everything to your Google Drive folder or wherever you store your files, whether it's box or dropbox. I usually do business name followed by design. And then a folder for each asset and then you're ready to rock you're ready to go live with your brand identity. And you can launch that brand. So that's the overall process of the digital design. We have tools and resources as well, which I'll talk about in the next module.
6:25
We're going to jump in to some super dope case studies so hold on tight.
