In this video you’ll discover how billing at Shopify works and how to earn a discount on your fee. The billing section is where you pay for your shop via subscription and any other fees such as apps.
On this page you can manage your billing information as well as how you pay and access all the bills and fees from Shopify. You can pay for your Shopify using a credit card. At the moment, you can’t use debit cards to pay for Shopify.
Let’s set this up now. From your Shopify admin click “Settings” then “Billing.” In the Bills section click “View outstanding charges.” When you become a Shopify customer your monthly bill is on a 30-day cycle.
There are four different sections of a bill. Subscriptions show the charge for your Shopify plan. If you change plans mid-billing cycle then a subscription credit is applied in this section. Apps show as app charges associated with the bill.
App charges are set by the app developer. App developers can charge for apps with recurring fees, usage fees and one-time fees. Shipping shows charges for your shipping labels and adjustments made during your billing cycle. Transaction fees shows transaction charges associated with the bill. You are charged transaction fees only if you’re not using Shopify payments.
So how do you earn a discount with Shopify? Shopify provides discounts to people who agree to a longer billing cycle. This means if you choose one, two, or three year plan with Shopify you can save on your monthly fees. Let’s choose a plan now.
Go to your home page on admin. Choose “Select the plan.” I’m going to choose most popular. I’ll be charged $79 USD every 30 days. If I choose yearly I’d save a month of fees. To put this in perspective, for less than $3 US a day, you have access to world class software to grow your business.
Fill out your info and you’ll be charged every month or every year on this day. It may be pricier upfront but you’ll be able to save quite a bit of money if you invest in a year or more. After you’ve chosen your plan, you are now able to unlock your store and share it with the world.
