The general section is important to fill out the fundamental aspects of your online store. Let’s set this up together. In your Shopify admin, you’ll go to “Settings” and click “General.” For your store details, ensure your email address and store name are correct.
Next, add in your store address. Whether you’re running your small business from home, your office, or a coworking space, add in your details. For standards and formats, you can make changes to your store details to choose your time zone, unit system for measurement, and if you prefer to have a specific prefix or suffix for your order IDs. For your store currency, it’s important to select the right store currency for your business.
The currency that your customers use to pay for their orders can be different from the currency of your payouts. For example, if your store is located in Europe but the majority of your customers are in the United States, set your store currency to US dollars. You can set your pay out to euros and pay suppliers and employees.
After setting up “General,” click save and you’re done. In the next lesson, I’ll show you how to edit your taxes section of your online store.
