[MUSIC PLAYING] ADRIAN MORRISON: On this module, what we're going to talk about is something really important. It's necessary to have your store set up and running. You do not want to miss this, and that is setting up your shipping and handling rates. So to get to this section of your Shopify store, you're going to want to come down to the bottom left where the cog is and hit Settings. So let's go ahead and hit Settings.
0:28
And then right here in this menu, you will see there is an option to manage how you ship your orders to customers. Now, remember we're doing drop shipping here. Print on demand is drop shipping, so we're not really having to print shipping labels or anything like that. I mean, all of that junk is it's stuff that other people deal with. That is why I love print on demand.
0:51
That's why when I started teaching students all over the world how to do Shopify, I chose to teach them methods by which they could drop ship right, and it just makes it simple. So this isn't going to be a big headache for you. You don't have to worry about these crazy rates or anything like that. So let's click on Shipping. And when you get here, it's going to ask you to start setting things up.
1:15
Now, in the very beginning, it might say something like, before you can purchase a shipping label, you must change these things. I don't have to worry about that because I am not purchasing any shipping labels. Because the print on demand companies, they ship everything for me. I never see it. I never touch it-- print on demand. So you want to scroll down to where your zones and rates are. So out of the gate, you're going to have shipping zones.
1:41
You're going to have a domestic shipping zone, and then the rest of the world, you can edit these any way you like. I'm going to show you how simple this really is. So what we're going to do is go to the domestic shipping zone. For me, that's United States. We're going to hit Edit. And we can create as many different shipping tiers, as I call them, as I like. We can even add different countries into the shipping zone by clicking on add countries, but we're going to keep it on US.
2:09
And then where it says Price based rates, we can set up where basically we're charging people a shipping amount based off of how much money they spend on our store. And it's kind of common knowledge that the more you spend on an order, the higher the shipping rate may be unless they're giving away free shipping.
2:32
So you don't like go crazy or anything like that. But it's acceptable to charge people a little bit more if they're buying more items because it's going to basically take up more space. It might be in a bigger box. So it's important to make sure that you set this up. So you can come up here where it says Add a rate. And don't worry about Weight based stuff.
2:55
You don't have to worry about weight. You want to be price based. You can add a rate. Currently, standard shipping is set anybody that purchases an item that is on our store is just going to pay a flat fee of $4.95. I'm going to give you a little trick right here that I've given my students. It has helped so many students, just do some pretty amazing things with their own stores, just buy something that's very simple.
3:23
So we're going to hit Add a rate. And what I like to do-- actually, know what? Let's go back. Let's go back. Let's edit this one. Let's edit the standard shipping. Just click Edit right here. What we're going to do here is we're actually going to set a limit. And I'm going to show you how you can double up a little bit on shipping handling so you can earn more profits. So range from 0 to no limit.
3:46
So basically, anybody on the store that buys something will get charged 4.95 for shipping. What we're going to do is we're going to set this limit to $50. So anybody that spends $0 to $50, they're going to pay 4.95 for shipping. Done. Now, so people that purchase anything $50 and below will get charged 4.95.
4:10
Thing is, especially with print on demand, as people are buying more items are spending more money, the print on demand companies might up your shipping charge like I said because, well, it's more expensive to ship more items. So you want to go in. And so many people, they miss this step. And that's why I'm really glad that I'm doing this video because I've been there, done that.
4:33
I know how. I can help you out here. You just hit Add another rate. And what we'll do is we'll still call this standard shipping. You don't have to worry about, really doesn't matter that much what you name this. There's some things you can do here to help increase conversion rates too that I've taught my students. But we're going to keep it standard for now. Minimum order price here, so we're just going to say $50.01, so anything over $50 all the way up to 100 bucks.
5:05
So anybody that spends $50 to $100, we're going to charge them $9.95. So we're going to scoop up another $5 for shipping and handling. So this means every person that spends more money is going to get charged a higher shipping rate. Therefore, we are going to make more money. And that's going to cover any print on demand additional shipping costs if the company charges you more.
5:31
So this is an important right here to have. Now, the next thing I do because a lot of you might be saying, well, Adrian, what if somebody comes in and spends more than $100? I use a promotion. So I do Add a rate, and we'll call this Free Shipping. And I'll say anybody that spends $100 or more-- you could put this at 100 and more and the other one at 99 bucks.
5:57
But $100 and above will get free shipping, just like that. So anybody that spends more than $100 will get free shipping. Now, if you want to, you can come over here and this is where I could spend like literally an hour in here playing around and showing you promotional strategies and whatnot, but I know I have to keep these short and to the point.
6:21
You could come down here and make this 99.99. And the reason you would do that is you might do a promotion where you say anybody that spends $100. So if you spend at least $100 and above, you get free shipping. And this is great for email promotions. It's great for Facebook ads.
6:43
Getting people to spend more money to save on shipping has always been a phenomenal marketing strategy for many, many different businesses. So once you set these up, these are in your domestic United States territory. You're going to want to go and do the same thing again for the rest of the world. So let's jump back out here to shipping now that we have that set up.
7:06
And remember these are the most basic shipping settings. Here there's a lot of stuff that you could do here that's really fun. But we're keeping it basic right now. Now, you need to set up for the rest of the world. We're not using DHL or UPS or USPS or anything like that because we're doing drop shipping. So you can hit Edit on this and basically do the same thing over there. I'm just going to go ahead and delete USPS and DHL. Don't need them.
7:29
We're doing drop shipping. Price based rates-- so you could say, here standard international shipping. Anybody that spends $0 dollars to $50 right is going to pay $9.95. So automatically, because it's international, you're going to charge them a little bit more money. And that's acceptable right because people understand that if they're international, it costs a little bit more to ship items to them.
7:59
And so you want to make sure that you capitalize on that and you pick up that extra money. So you can also do standard international shipping again. And for this, you would do your $50.01 all the way up to 99.99. And in this case, you might charge them just a couple more bucks like $12.95 for shipping. You don't want to get too crazy with it.
8:24
So $12.95. You're just charging a couple more dollars. And this is totally up to you. I'm just showing you what I recommend, so done. And then, of course, at another rate and then we'll do free shipping here. And we'll say that we won't offer people free shipping if they spend $100 or more. So even though it's international. If it's a big order, we're assuming we've got some great profits in there, we'll give them free shipping.
8:50
So we did the same thing here. You can play with this. You can split test low of this. Remember this is something I could go into a lot more detail in, but right now, I want to keep it simple for you. This is the most basic way to set it up. You're just now getting started. This is what I would recommend. And now you have your shipping settings set up. And you are ready to go here.
