Hello, I'm Lucy Martin. I'm a digital marketer photographer and co-owner of The Wardrobe, Clothing Store. Now at one of the easiest ways to increase your sales is to promote more products to customers who are already buying something from your store. Effectively increasing the amount of your average sale. Once a customer starts shopping at this point, they already trust your brand and they already have an active cart.
So it's a lot easier to just convince them to maybe add another item to your order. In this video, I'm going to show you how to increase your order value by cross-promoting products. One of the best ways to cross promote products is right on the product page. You can do this by utilizing lifestyle photos that show multiple products, styles together. This works especially well for fashion but you can apply it to anything.
Food products, home décor, office supplies, games, crafts, it'll work for anything. For example, in this image we've styled the cardigan with a purse, a hat, a scarf and mitts and they all look really great together. This inspires your customers to think about adding those extra items. These photos are great to feature as banners on collection pages and as alternative images on product pages.
It allows you to showcase as many products as possible all in one photo and conveying in one compelling image, why they all go together. And of course, why your customers needs them all. You can also use the these images in a gallery or a blog post that links to all the products. Now, once your customers are interested and inspired to add another item, make sure you easily linked to those other products.
I like to do this right within the product description. For instance, in our shop, 65% of people who buy the art scarf decide to add the matching art glove. On the collection page, we ordered the two products side by side. And once they actually get to the product page, both products reference each other again. As you can see here on the art scarf page, we have a direct link to the description that says, make sure to add the matching art glove to complete the set.
There are also lots of apps or ad-ons you can build right into your Shopify store that can do this automatically. Creating icons like customers also bought or were also interested in and listing similar items is a great option to consider. Cross-promoting on the product pages and in collections is a great way to boost the number of items purchased.
But using social media is one of the best ways to get people interested. Shopify makes it really easy for you to integrate your product catalog with Facebook and Instagram. In your Shopify admin, just navigate to the left side and click on the plus button to add sales channels. Once you follow the easy steps and add your Facebook account, you're going to be able to tag products directly on Facebook and Instagram.
This is an amazing feature. I love this feature because it makes it so easy for people to click on your image and explore specific products within Facebook and Instagram. If they choose to buy it'll take them directly to the product page on your shop. We know how much our customers are on social media, so it's best to grab their interest right while they are there scrolling through their feeds or their timelines.
Keep using email marketing though to your advantage. Email blasts are a great way to promote multiple products, especially if you establish a theme to that email message. In the body of the email, various product photos can be strategically placed side by side to show off how they compliment each other. In any accompanying text, you can explain how to mix and match products or why they go so well together.
For example, in this email, you can see how I placed the scarf beside the coat. They look really great together and in almost every coat sale, customers also bought the scarf. You can also use emails to advertise bundles and promos. Opt to add a discount, like a two for one deal or buy two, get one free to encourage customers to purchase a few extra items.
So there you have it. If someone is already committed to buying, it's much easier to convince them to simply add a few extra items. Those can really add up boosting your average sale and really helping your bottom line. Thanks for watching. And I hope you enjoyed this video.
