Shopify is laser-focused on providing our merchants with a localized experience tailored to their needs. We understand commerce takes many forms and one size does not fit all.
For example, did you know data from World Bank found that less than 1 in 5 people own credit cards globally? Even more, in some markets like Germany where credit cards are owned by a considerable percentage of their population (1 in every 3), many people do not use them for online purchases. In fact, credit cards are used for only 1 in every 67 online purchases.
In other markets like the Netherlands, paying with your bank account is more common; In Mexico, merchants can to go to a convenience store (OXXO) to pay for online goods.
With that, we are excited to share that merchants now have the ability to pay their Shopify bill with PayPal. Now available for merchants globally (excluding the U.S), you can begin, or continue your journey, with more of the payment methods you know and trust.
For new merchants, you can select PayPal as your billing method at time of signup. For existing merchants looking to take advantage of PayPal, simply navigate to your billing settings page and connect your PayPal account.
